Our Story

Although the Chupacabra Conspiracy’s first performance took place on May 27th, 2011, its members have been learning and performing improv comedy together since December, 2009. In 2011, the group decided to try its hand at sketch comedy and the Chupacabra Conspiracy was born.
The group’s first performance took place on Memorial Day weekend at the Upright Citizens’ Brigade Theatre in Chelsea. Despite a strong showing at Backyard Brawl, the UCB’s monthly sketch competition show, the Chupacabra Conspiracy fell to Hammerkatz NYU.
Unfazed by the loss, the Chupacabra Conspiracy booked its first solo show at the Parkside Lounge on June 19th, 2011. The show was a rousing success and featured both old and new (but all original) material.
Labor Day weekend brought the Chupacabra Conspiracy its first competition victory with a win at the Secret Theatre’s Sketchy LIC competition, where the prize entailed a full solo show to be held once again at the Secret Theatre.
After a busy fall and winter, the Chupacabra Conspiracy finally put on its second sketch showcase on May 14th, 2012, which featured almost all new material and was the group’s strongest to date.
Next on the Chupacabra Conspiracy’s calendar is a performance at PIT Sketchfest. We invite you to enjoy half an hour of all original sketch comedy and hope to see you there!
